Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Restaurant Shift Manager to join one of our clients – a renowned hotel resort located in the heart of Rovaniemi. This is a unique opportunity to grow your leadership career while experiencing the enchanting Arctic winter, Northern Lights, and the vibrant international atmosphere of Lapland’s busiest season.

Contract: Seasonal, start dates between September–November 2026, employment until end of March / mid-April 2027

Responsibilities

Your Role

As a Restaurant Shift Manager, you will ensure smooth daily operations and deliver an outstanding customer experience in line with the resort’s service model. You will act as the right hand of the Restaurant Manager and take responsibility for the restaurant when they are not present.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Daily Operations & Service Quality

  • Manage restaurant operations during assigned shifts.
  • Ensure high-quality customer service and support customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor compliance with hygiene, safety, and official regulations (self-monitoring plan, cleaning routines, storage standards, etc.).
  • Maintain the restaurant’s atmosphere: lighting, table settings, cleanliness, and overall guest experience.

Business Support & Development

  • Support the development of the service concept and restaurant operations.
  • Contribute to increasing sales and enhancing service processes.
  • Place beverage orders and manage inventory of drinks, ingredients, and supplies.
  • Handle customer feedback and complaints via the Taplau platform.

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead and supervise the team during shifts.
  • Delegate tasks and ensure staff performance meets required standards.
  • Train employees for their duties and promote their continuous development.
  • Support the team in daily tasks and maintain strong internal communication.
  • Recognize team strengths and areas for improvement to guide staff effectively.
  • Follow HR processes of the hotel restaurant together with the Restaurant Manager.

Systems & Processes

  • Ensure the correct use of internal systems such as Biovaaka and Teams.
  • Work according to the values of the hotel restaurant and uphold the resort’s service culture

To succeed in this role, you should bring:

  • Proven experience as a Restaurant Shift Manager or in a senior supervisory role within a fast‑paced hospitality environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate, guide, and support your team during demanding shifts.
  • A hands‑on, lead‑by-example approach, actively participating in daily operations and ensuring smooth service flow.
  • Solid understanding of restaurant operations, including service model execution, kitchen coordination, hygiene and safety standards, cost control, and inventory management.
  • Excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills, especially under pressure or during peak guest volumes.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, typical for the winter season in Lapland.
  • Fluency in English; additional language skills are an advantage in the international guest environment.
  • EU citizenship or a valid Finnish work permit (mandatory requirement).
  • A proactive, positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences.

What We Offer

  • Employment in one of Lapland’s most reputable hotel resorts.
  • Finnish seasonal employment contract with full‑time (112.5h/3 weeks) or part‑time options.
  • A multicultural, dynamic working environment surrounded by Arctic nature.
  • Competitive salary, following the hotel & restaurant collective agreement or a separate agreement.
  • Attractive shift bonuses, including evening and night allowances, plus +100% pay on Sundays and public holidays.
  • Affordable staff accommodation:

    • 250 €/month for a shared double room
    • 450 €/month for a single room
  • Supportive leadership and onboarding throughout the season.
  • A unique life experience in Rovaniemi – the city of Santa Claus.
